Day 2 of the allstar weekend was today and i have to say that was the most disappointing dunk contest i have ever seen. No one put any kind of creativaty in their dunks. Nate Robinson won by default beacause everyone else sucked and his dunks weren’t creative either. Honestly I think it has become more of a popularity contest then anything. The 3 point contest was pretty good Paul Pierce won it he went from being tied for second to taking it all. The skills challenge was also pretty good steve nash was the winner of that. Honestly the first two days of the allstar weekend sucked the game tomorrow better be worth watching if not it will be the worst allstar weekend in history.
We Are The World 25 For Haiti - Official Video

Y’know, I don’t understand why people are talking about how this song is so bad. The message is great, and the people singing the song are great.
And on the thing about Auto-Tune used in this song, if the people that complained about it actually listened, it was three people that actually used auto-tune. Probably 30 seconds. You’re complaining about the whole video (that is 8 minutes and 32 seconds long) over 30 seconds for auto-tune? Yeah, you’re officially retarded. It’s not like they hit those stupid ass high notes with auto tune all stupid sounding, they (Lil’ Wayne, Akon, and T-Pain) actually took it light with it all. They sung lightly, and hey, that’s good enough for me.
I enjoyed this video, I really did.
But I’m just shaking my head at the people that talk about the casting selections so badly. Shit, they can sing. It’s whatever.
At the end of the day, it’s still Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie’s song.
I agree with you bruh.
And if I may add…
Regardless of whether or not you think that the level of musicianship among some of the artists in this version is comparable to those in the original, the fact still remains that the underlying concept of both versions was to bring together a large amount of the current popular artists to promote a cause by collaborating on a single song.
Why the popular artists? Because those are the ones who are able to reach the most people. They’re able to captivate audiences. In doing so, they’re able to spread a message. The message here concerns Haiti. The message here concerns hope. Fellowship. Salvation. Unity.
Does Lil’ Wayne need to be as great as Bob Dylan, in your eyes, in order to convey that message?
No. He doesn’t.
Not everyone was exposed to music the way that you were. And not everyone has the same taste in music. There are people who grew up on trap music, and nothing else. People who have never even heard the original until hearing about this remake. There are little kids who, N’Sync is old school music to them. This list goes on & on… Would those people even listen to this song if it didn’t include a Lil’ Wayne, a T-Pain… or a Justin Bieber? Isn’t it important to reach those people too? Even if you believe they have the worst taste in music, don’t they have hearts too? Don’t they have the potential to be inspired too?
For the sake of creating an “appropriate remake”, would it be better to only have artists who, in your eyes, are as talented as those in the original?
Despite the fact that you feel the artists of the past are more talented based on standards that differ from the criteria necessary to understanding the talent of some current generation artists, ignoring the vast amount of sub-cultural changes over the past few decades which have influenced the current generation of artists; thereby ignoring the significant portion of the today’s population who have those same influences, and thus, have developed a different taste in music than you?
Arguably, yes. Very much so.
But could you reach the largest amount of people as possible by only including those artists?
I don’t think you would.
I don’t especially like this remake. I don’t hate or dislike anything about it either. And I’m not hesitant to say that I like the original more. But I’d like to think that the most important thing about having a song like this would be to inspire everyone to do whatever they can to help their fellow man, and keep the discussions concerning that aforementioned message alive…
It was ok the first day is always slow. The celebrity game is my least favorite event it just bores me. Its just a bunch of celebs missing baskets lol. The rookie v. sophmore game was good the rookies took it this year i gotta give it to them they were playin really well and dominated well deserved victory. But i cant wait for tomorrow with events like The skills challenge and dunk contest its sure to be a must see.
